US Pattern 1826 NCO belt plate with makers mark of W.H. Smith. The more common example of this plate, was to be worn as a breast plate for the 1840 Model NCO Sword baldric, but this example, is a little harder to find. The placement of the hooks on the reverse side of the plate tell us that this was to be worn as a belt plate. Making it highly possible this plate could’ve been worn by a confederate soldier. The plate itself retains 95% of its original lead fill backing, has a clear and crisp face but is missing its original hooks on the back. With the purchase of this plate, you will also recieve a very beautiful glass top, oak wood display box. A opportunity to own a rare and uncommon belt plate from the American civil war
