Scarce and Rare Confederate Vandenburgh Volley Gun Bullet dug near Fort Fisher NC. During the Civil War there was only one Vandenburgh Volley Guns known to be used, which was at Ft. Fisher in Wilmington, NC. The Vandenburgh was a 121 barrel volley gun, that was actually designated as an artillery piece, which was designed by General Origen Vandenburgh of the New York State Militia in 1860. Vandenburgh attempted to sell his design to the British Government but failed, and only sold one of his guns to the Governor of North Carolina prior to the outbreak of the civil war.
