Excavated standard issue US oval belt plate referred too as the “Puppy Paw” for the distinctive brass or lead filled studs on the reverse. This pattern plate was for the enlisted men and almost every Union soldier during the war was issued one or one similar. It does have some damage around the edges and is missing some of its lead filling but the price on this buckle reflects that. A wonderful piece to display amongst your collection today.
