We have been fortunate enough to be able to offer this knife for sale once again! It came back into our possession via trade in!
This piece is a very rare confederate side knife in beautiful condition. It’s blade is a spear point blade with a center ridge spine with a double sided edge. It has a wood handle, sometimes referred to as a “tool-grip” style with a brass ferrule, iron cross guard. These “tool-grip” style knifes of similar design are believed to have been made in Guilford county, North Carolina. Other examples of this knife can be seen on page 251 in the book titled “Confederate Bowie Knives” by Jack Melton, Josh Phillips & John Sexton. While the sheath that accompanied the knife when we obtained it, is an original sheath and correct for the time period, we don’t believe it’s the original sheath to this knife.
In all a wonderful piece of Confederate Civil War history that is very reasonably priced! A fantastic addition to your collection!
