This bullet is listed in Dean Thomas' Round Ball to Rimfire: A History of Civil War Small Arms Ammunition - Part 4 A Contribution to the History of the Confederate Ordnance Bureau, as a .54 Cal. Mississippi rifle or Austrian Lorenz. It was a smooth sides and a shallow base, in beautiful dropped dug condition with a smooth white and light grey color patina.
